Inductor Current Check
Check peak and RMS inductor currents against saturation and thermal ratings, with explicit datasheet conditions.
Calculations run locally. Save is device-only; sharing includes the entered values.
Operating conditions
Units are fixed beside each field: V, A, kHz, µH, mΩ and °C.
Use DC or a nonnegative continuous triangular current. For nonzero ripple, average current must exceed half the peak-to-peak ripple. Pulsed/DCM and reverse-current waveforms require another model.

Isat is defined at a manufacturer-specific inductance drop; thermal ratings depend on permitted temperature rise and test setup. Headroom is (rating − demand) / rating. A within-rating result is conditional, not a complete design approval. Startup/fault peak affects the saturation check only.
Ipeak = Iavg + ΔI/2
Irms = √(Iavg² + ΔI²/12)
